Selfish to Selfless

So after thinking a lot about this today, I wanted to share something. We are SO selfish in nature. I mean, think about it. Even babies are selfish. They cry when they want something, and I would consider that selfishness. All of us are selfish....we want, and want, and want, and want. I remember reading a book when I was in pre-school called "Gimme Hands." It was about this little kid who had what they called "gimme hands," meaning he always wanted stuff, and said "gimme this," or "gimme that!" Not that that book had a whole lot of impact on me, but it just shows that they have to make books like that for 4 and 5 years olds who struggle with selfishness. As do elementary kids, jr highers, high schoolers, college aged people, working people, and elderly. We are ALL selfish.

Now that I've made my point, I might as well move on. Ok, so since we're all sinners, we are toast. WE could never make it to Heaven. On our own. We need someone to save us, or else we are destined to Hell.

However, there came one who was completely and totally self-less. Jesus Christ, the son of the almighty God, came down to earth as a human and died the most horrible death so we, the selfish people we are, could be saved. Because he saved us, we can go from "selfish" to "self-less." We are saved by his grace and mercy.

So let's all work together to be like Jesus, the ultimate example of selflessness.
